UK: Annual CPI up 2% in December

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - According to data released today by National Statistics, UK annual inflation rose 2.0% in December, down from 2.1% growth registered the previous month. Analysts expected the indicator to remain at 2.1%. On a monthly basis UK CPI rose 0.4% in December, after increasing 0.1% in November, slightly below forecasts of +0.5%.

Core CPI rose 1.7%, down from +1.8% and against expectations of remaining at the same level.

ECB's Nowotny: Monetary policy helped boost recovery in the Eurozone

ECB Governing Council member Ewald Nowotny said on Tuesday that the Eurozone economy could grow more than projected in 2014 and that the perspectives for entire Europe were improving. He stressed that the central bank's monetary policy contributed considerably to the recovery in the area.
