US Q1 GDP slows to 0.5%, misses expectations

US gross domestic product advanced at a 0.5% seasonally adjusted annualized rate in the first quarter, the Commerce Department said Thursday.

This reading missed expectations of a 0.7% growth and was the worst performance in two years. Growth slowed down from 1.4% advance in the fourth quarter and 2.0% in the third quarter.
