CAC gains strength

FXStreet (Mumbai) - The French index Cac advanced today, supported by gains in the Energy shares.

The Cac index traded 0.93% higher at 4281.30 levels at the time of writing, compared to the previous session’s close of 4241.65 levels. The index breadth is positive with an advance-decline ratio of 36:4. The Cac Oil and Gas Producers index is up 2.58%, followed by a 2.49% gain in the Cac Oil and Gas index.

Among the index stocks, Total advanced 2.69%, followed by Gemalto; up 1.87%. EDF and Technip gained 1.6% and 1.52% respectively. Meanwhile, the minus side includes shares in Arcelormittal, down 1.07%, followed by Alstom, down 0.98%. Other stocks like Airbus and Safran weakened moderately.

Cac Technical Levels

The index has an immediate resistance located at 4289, above which gains could be extended to 4334. Meanwhile, support is seen at 4275 and 4200 levels.

EUR/USD: downside risks? – Rabobank

Jane Foley, Senior Currency Strategist at Rabobank, forecasts EUR/USD to move to 1.20 levels in 2015, with downside risk, noting that the Fed is likely to govern the outlook for USD in coming months and the ECB may have less control over the EUR.
